Polypropylene vials

As plastic vials are non-ionic and non-reactive, they represent the ideal sample container for ion chromatography.

For the same reasons they furthermore are also often suitable for usage in the analysis of polar compounds, such as proteins, amines or phenols, as due to the neutrality of their surface the adsorption of polar compounds is reduced. One of the main application areas here is also PFAS analysis, where, according to our own tests, the signal strength of the analytes is significantly better when using PP vials than using silanized glass vials.

Plastic vials are – in contrast to glass vials – free of heavy metals and thus also suitable for heavy metal analysis. Another field of application for plastic vials are aqueous and pH-sensitive samples in HPLC, as they have a neutral, hydrophobic surface in comparison to glass vials. Finally PP vials are used in Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) and in Capillary Electrophoresis (CE + CE/MS).

Our range of plastic vials includes:

  • 0.3 mL, transparent / amber with inner cone and screw N 9 respectively snap ring/crimp neck N 11
  • 0.7 mL transparent with round bottom insert and screw N 9 respectively snap ring/crimp neck N 11
  • 1.5 mL screw neck vial N 9*, transparent with flat bottom and filling lines.

*This vial is often used in ion chromatography on Dionex® instruments (Thermo Scientific®) and is offered in combination with a slit 9 mm screw closure (702288.1) as a Kit under part number 079812 for the AS-AP autosampler.
