With firmly integrated micro-inserts we differentiate, if these have been integrated into a glass or into a plastic vial. With glass vials fixation of the insert is normally carried out by fusing both glass components either in the neck and/or at the bottom. This connection is, however, very sensitive to breakage, so that an appropriate careful treatment of the vials is required during transportation and usage.
Firmly integrated micro-inserts have the advantage of a ready-to-use unit that can be filled easily and safely due to the firm fixation of the insert and which can directly be placed on the lab bench or in a tray/rack afterwards. Sample removal is carried out without any risk for the needle due to the reliable centering of the micro-insert. The risk of any contamination is also always lower with ready-to-use sample containers in comparison to individual components that still need to be assembled in the lab.
In comparison to the glass-in-glass products, glass-in-plastic systems are very robust, as the glass insert is well protected by the Polypropylene outer shell. The tip of the micro-insert is centered by 100 per cent in an outlet at the bottom. The inserts sits firmly in the protective PP round bottom shell and thus can be easily filled. Another advantage of these systems is their excellent tightness, as the glass insert always constantly exceeds the rim of the plastic outer vial by 0.1 mm granting a firm sealing of the sample in the insert. Upon request also a silanized insert can be integrated into the plastic shell. The high transparent Polypropylene enables a good view on the filling level.

Micro-inserts as firmly integrated components in a vial
Firmly integrated or fused-in micro-inserts have the advantage of a ready-to-use unit that can easily and safely be filled due to the firm fixation of the insert in the vial. Learn more about the different types of these micro-vials and what makes them the optimal sample container for micro-sampling.
*: Stated volume indications are defined realistically usable volumes at the safe, lower limit. Competitors might indicate different volumes (calculated volumes or usable volumes at the upper limit)
In order to have a better view on the filling level, we purposely abstained from a label and from filling lines on the vial that are anyway not applicable for the volume of the insert. Nevertheless, if there is a request for such a unit, we can alternatively offer the pre-assembled vial-insert combinations.
In case you have an analysis that generally does not allow usage of glass containers, we recommend the following polypropylene micro-vials.
