NANOCOLOR Boron 3

Measuring range  0.05–2.50 mg/L B

PK of 20 Tests

Boron (B) is an indicator of agricultural pollution and waste deposits. Borates (salts of boric acid) are used industrially in the glass and ceramics industry and in the manufacture of fluxes and soldering agents. In the detergent industry, perborates are used as bleaching agents. The Drinking Water Ordinance sets a limit value of 1.0 mg/L for boron. Measured values in un-contaminated groundwater are generally between 0.01 and 0.1 mg/L B. The European limit value (Drinking Water Directive - DWD) is also 1.0 mg/L B.

The NANOCOLOR Boron 3 tube test is used to determine borate ions in water samples. Borate ions form a yellow color complex in an acidic solution with azomethine-H. This is measured at 412 nm on spectrophotometers and 436 nm on filter photometers.
